Allegra Burton is an accomplished registered dietitian, health and fitness educator, and athlete committed to helping people lead healthier lives through nutrition and health education and awareness. Burton has extensive experience as a clinical and private practice dietitian and as a writer, editor and public speaker. For over three years, Burton has worked at Pharmavite, LLC serving as the registered dietitian behind SOYJOY nutrition bars, and educating consumers and professionals about soy, vitamins, minerals, herbs and dietary supplements. Burton also counsels and educates people one-on-one about sports nutrition, weight, cholesterol, hypertension, and diabetes management through her private consulting practice. In addition, Burton does health and fitness writing and editing and is a regular contributor to health-related publications and websites. Burton has also worked as a science and math editor for The Princeton Review. Burton has served as a nutrition consultant for a leading nutraceutical product. In addition, Burton counseled diabetes patients at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, and helped patients meet weight and nutrition goals at the VanItallie Center for Nutrition and Weight Management at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, also in New York. Additionally, for more than five years, Burton worked in television as a news producer and editor where she researched, wrote and developed news segments and has extensive experience both behind and in front of the camera. Burton received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. Burton completed her registered dietitian internship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association. Burton is a five-time NCAA All-American in Cross Country and Track, and continues to be an avid runner and yoga enthusiast.
