Knee experts believe runners can keep themselves healthy if they pay attention to their bodies and run at levels appropriate for them. The best way to protect your knees is with daily stretching exercises at home, and Ms. Davis provides a few examples for readers. To help avoid knee inflammation and pain, it is important to wear a good pair of shoes that fit well. Also, as soon as you begin to feel pain, stop running for several days and consider icing the knee and surrounding tissues several times a day.
